Chery Malaysia has today launched their electric car for the local market, the Chery Omoda E5. It is offered at a price of RM 146,800 with an attractive promotion.
The Chery Omoda E5 has a front-mounted electric motor that delivers 204PS of power and 340Nm of torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 7.6 seconds with a top speed of 172 km/h.
In terms of battery capacity, it has a battery capacity of 61kWh which has a travel distance of up to 430km based on WLTP calculations. Acceptable DC fast charging is 80kW and allows charging from 30-80% in 28 minutes. For AC charging, the maximum power capacity that can be accepted is 9.9kW and supports the 3.3kW V2L (Vehicle-to-load) function that allows electrical tools to be connected directly to the Chery Omoda E5.
Other functions include wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto tethering, Sony speakers, wireless charging for 50W smartphones, 6 airbags, ADAS 2.5 and more.
In fact, Chery Malaysia also offers an attractive warranty and package for the Omoda E5 model. It comes with a 7-year or 150,000km warranty, an 8-year or 160,000 battery warranty, and battery replacement if the battery health drops below 70%.
For the first 2000 Chery Omoda E5 buyers will receive a home charger, a V2L charging socket and also a RM 1000 charging credit that can be used through JomCharge and charging networks that support charging roaming.
At a price of RM146,800 Chery Omoda E5 will be offered in a variety of colors and will compete with other mid-range electric cars in terms of price such as BYD Atto 3, Tesla Model 3, Smart #1 Pro and many more which are each sold for more than RM150,000.
