China Introduces Guidelines To Ban Use Of Intel And AMD Chips In Government Computers

China has now reportedly introduced guidelines in moving away from the use of US-made processing chips, including Intel and AMD, on computers and even servers owned by the Chinese government, and used by civil servants there.

In addition to barriers to hardware adoption, China is also looking to move away from the use of the Windows operating system, as well as various external database software. With this move, the government in China will choose domestic supply to power their operations.

Previously, the United States itself has imposed trade barriers against some companies in China from buying chips and hardware produced by the United States. With this move, China is seen to be taking steps to reduce dependence on technology produced by the United States, and at the same time strengthen domestic production.
