Kirt McMaster is one of the founders of Cyanogen Inc. who produced the CyanogenMod operating system based on Android in 2013. The purpose of it was produced as an alternative operating system that other Android phone manufacturers can use. Now McMaster also announced the Playtron operating system that targets use on mobile consoles.
Playtron is built based on Linux with an emphasis on it being a lightweight operating system that can support all online stores and video game launchers that exist today.

At this point Playtron is still in its infancy with only a small fraction of video games supported. The Alpha version will be offered to the public to try and see the compatibility of video games But Playtron confirmed that Ayaneo will start offering mobile consoles with their operating system at the end of this year with several other manufacturers starting in 2025.
Another advantage of this operating system is that it charges $10 per installation compared to Windows which charges around $80. In addition, Playtron also aims for it to be used on phones, tablets, TVs and also because in the future.
