Digital Minister : JPDP Confirms No Leakage of Maxis Personal Data Due to Recent Incidents

Recently, at the beginning of the year, many were surprised by the claims of a hacker group known as R00TK1T who claimed to have attacked the local telecommunications operator, Maxis.

Sharing about it in Parliament today, the Digital Minister informed that the Personal Data Protection Department (JPDP) has carried out a follow-up investigation, and found that no personal data was involved based on the data samples submitted.

According to the review regarding the hacker group's claims, it was found that only the Maxis Interactive Retail Assistant (MIRA) Queue Management System portal at one Maxis branch was affected. The system is said to have no connection to any critical Maxis system.

The Digital Minister also emphasized that CyberSecurity Malaysia, JPDP and the National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA) always carry out continuous monitoring to ensure data security and also the country's digital infrastructure is safe.
