Video call support on Android devices has been removed for a long time. Years ago, Samsung was one of the popular ones offering a phone call feature that can be directly switched to a video call directly from the phone app. Now everyone is turning to social media apps like Messenger, WhatsApp and more.
Only Apple to date offers a video calling feature i.e. FaceTime directly built into their phone calling application. Most recently, Google was seen testing direct video calling features on Google Phones such as FaceTime. But it is limited to Pixel devices and has to use Google Meet.
Pixel users appear to be able to make phone calls as usual and are allowed to switch to Google Meet video calls at any time provided the recipient of the call has a Meet account. This feature is tested on Google Phone for Pixel version 125.0.613053162-publicbeta-pixel2023). I'm using version 125.0.613053162-publicbeta on Nothing Phone (2a) can't test it.
