HP Study Finds 73% of Employees Don't Have a Healthy Relationship With Work

Do you like your current job? If yes, you are actually in the majority. In HP's latest Work Relationship Index report, 73% of knowledge workers admit to not having a relationship with their work. The study collected responses from over 15,600 respondents from 12 countries.

The impact of this unhealthy relationship is not only bad for the employee but also for the company that employs them. A total of 71% of respondents also answered that they would like to be given the flexibility to work using flexible hours according to their personal schedule. However, only 26% say they enjoy it consistently at work.

Only 64% were given the option to work at home or in the office as needed. More interesting is that 72% of respondents are willing to take a pay cut if given the option to work wherever they want.

The impact of the use of artificial intelligence (AI) was also touched upon. A total of 42% are not so sure when it should be used in the workplace with 41% feeling they are not sufficiently prepared to harness the full potential of AI in their role.

Therefore, among the recommendations given by HP is that employers need to have empathy and listen to the needs of staff. They also need to realize that staff are interested in integrating AI in their work, they just need to be given guidance on how it can be used properly to improve productivity.
