Jensen Huang – All PCs Released in the Past 30 Years Are Now “Obsolete”

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang today released another controversial statement after all PCs produced in the past 30 years "are obsolete". The statement was issued by Huang during the HP Amplify event that took place in Las Vegas this morning local time.

This is Huang's opinion in a discussion about the future of the PC with HP CEO Enrique Lores. He added that the AI capabilities that PCs launched this year (categorized as AI-PCs) would make all PCs without the same capabilities obsolete. This is because NPUs and GPUs that can support AI processing are now seen as a necessity.

According to him, the introduction of AI-PC is the biggest change in the PC world since Windows 95 which was the first PC operating system designed to support multimedia. AI capabilities are predicted to have the same impact as multimedia capabilities on PCs.

This year saw processor chips released by AMD, Intel and Qualcomm all have NPUs to allow AI models to run directly on the machine without the need for the internet. Even modern smart phones also have the same capabilities but on a smaller scale.

Do you agree with Jensen Huang's statement? Just a few weeks ago he said there was no longer a need for children to learn programming because it could be done by AI. Instead they just need to learn to produce proms that tell the AI to write the necessary code.
