KBS Confirms They Have Been Hacked R00tK1t




The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) admitted that the agency's cloud application was hacked last Saturday. But KBS Minister Hannah Yeoh said there was no leakage of personal data.



Hacker group R00tk1t claimed responsibility for this latest attack and managed to steal 270GB of data from cloud storage. Hannah Yeoh said KBS had already reported this cyber attack incident to the National Cyber Security Agency and Cyber Security Malaysia. He also issued a statement that only administrative files were stolen without any personal information.


Over the past few months, R00tk1t has been attacking several government-owned IT infrastructures. They claim to have managed to collect as much as 32TB of data from all the attacks carried out so far. Among those allegedly successfully stolen was PADU data which was denied by Rafizi Ramli a few days after the attack.
