Through Statcounter, it now shows that Linux-based open source operating systems have a market share of over 4% – while also showing that the 4% figure has been reached for the first time in a long time.
The increase in the use of Linux is seen to change drastically since 2020. Statcounter did not state the reason behind it, but according to many speculations, the high level of hardware requirements to run Windows 11 made more people switch to the Linux operating system.
This is mainly for older model computers that are still in active use – where users choose to install a Linux operating system and use it in basic daily use.
In addition, the development of the Linux-based operating system arena which is now easier and user-friendly is also seen to contribute to this increase. According to local figures for Linux as well, Statcounter shows that it now has a 3.99% market share.
As for yourself, have you ever tried a Linux-based operating system?
