Louis Vuitton Launches Frank Gehry's Transparent Sapphire Body Watch

Louis Vuitton is a well-known luxury brand, especially in the world of leather bags and haute couture clothing. But they also launched high-end tech products in the form of watches and earphones before. Last week they launched the Tambour Moon Flying Tourbillon which is a watch designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry.

The Tambour Moon Flying Tourbillon is unique because the face, hands, body, knobs and internal components are made of sapphire. Therefore this watch looks transparent with the internal mechanism clearly visible. Only five of these limited edition watches were produced. All of them are produced from one block of sapphire weighing 200 kilograms.

To produce this watch, the artisans of La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton spend thousands of hours. A total of 250 hours were spent to measure a clock hand that was only as thick as a piece of paper. In addition to nylon, rose gold and the inner components are made of rhodium-plated metal to make it look more luxurious. The sale price of the Tambour Moon Flying Tourbillon has not been announced.
