A few weeks ago, Meizu released a statement that they will stop producing smartphones and focus on physical AI devices. Apparently, this Meizu gimmick has confused people because today during the Meizu 21 launch event in Malaysia – Meizu said they will stop producing traditional smartphones. This means, after the Meizu 20 series – all the devices they will launch will be powered by Flyme OS integrated with generative AI.
Meizu also shared that they are getting serious for the Malaysian market this year. MYVU AR glasses are also planned to be marketed in Malaysia. In today's Meizu partnership, they are seen wanting to make FlymeOS a competitor to Xiaomi HyperOS which is an operating system for all. Meizu also wants to have a Flyme-based vehicle information system.
In the future, Meizu users in Malaysia can enjoy the experience of using a complete ecosystem from accessories to smartphones and various other devices. It seems that the idea first popularized by Huawei with HarmonyOS has been followed by other device manufacturers.
