Today's Meta already has an augmented-reality-focused offering, under the Quest headset. Powering the device is an open-source version of the Android-based operating system, without the participation of Google service integration.
According to the latest report, it is said that Google has approached Meta, and invited Meta to cooperate in developing a platform for the augmented reality arena. However, Meta is seen rejecting the collaboration, and prefers to develop it himself.
Meta itself is ready to lead in the arena, and cooperation with Google does not bring any profit for Meta. In fact, recently, Meta is reported to be collaborating with LG for the production of virtual reality devices that use Meta's software expertise, as well as LG's hardware.
With this move, it is not yet known how Google will move in the arena of augmented reality which is now gaining a lot of attention - parallel to Apple's participation through Apple Vision Pro.
