This year you will hear the term “PC AI” used with every new PC launch. This is because PC AI is in a different category when compared to a normal PC. Currently only a few manufacturers such as HP, Microsoft and Lenovo have started offering AI PCs. But many still don't really know what the difference is between PC and PC AI.
Microsoft and Intel have finally released what documents must be included on a new computer for it to be classified as an AI PC. The most important component is the use of the built-in CPU, NPU and GPU. Because the document is issued by Intel, the chips to be used are from the Intel Core Ultra series. AMD and Qualcomm also have some chips with NPU so they can also be used.
AI PCs should also have a built-in Copilot button to invoke AI features more easily. So for that reason it also needs to be present with the Copilot feature which is currently only given on the Windows 11 operating system and will be given to Windows 10 later.
Specifications for PC AI will change with the passage of time and also the needs. According to a Tom's Hardware report, in the future Copilot will run directly on AI PCs. At that time AI PCs with larger memory and processors with processing power up to 40 TOPS will be a necessity.
