With most artificial intelligence services having started to support voice commands such as Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT and more, each is racing to become the virtual assistant replacement on Android devices. ChatGPT has been able to replace Alexa or Google Assistant. Recently, it was Microsoft's turn to offer users to set Copilot as the main virtual assistant for Android devices.
This feature appears to be available to the stable Copilot app on the Play Store and is no longer limited to beta users. In my testing, Copilot didn't look like it could be the ultimate virtual assistant. This is because Copilot does not support voice calls and can only be called with gesture control. Then, after Copilot is invoked – the default setting is to give commands by typing instead of being able to continue giving voice commands.
Copilot also doesn't have access to Android devices, so it doesn't support basic virtual assistant features like opening apps or changing settings and so on. If you set this Microsoft AI service as your Android device's virtual assistant, it's just more of a quick access to ask AI information. Would you like to try it?
