Already many AI services can now read user-uploaded files to formulate. Adobe Acrobat is testing to read PDF files, Claude which already supports the file summarization feature is now upgraded to the new multilanguage model, and recently Microsoft Copilot also started supporting the same feature.
Copilot is now seen to be able to accept files that users upload or via drag & drop. It can then read the entire document to extract a summary, list important data, or find more specific data without having to read the entire document itself.
This feature appears to be rolling out to all users in stages. More interestingly, Microsoft also does not limit this feature to use only on Windows, because if you use the Edge web browser – the same thing can be done. In my tests, Copilot on a Windows laptop and the Edge web browser I'm currently using still don't support this new feature. Let's wait together.
