New York Times Starts Threatening Lawsuits Against Wordle Clone Developers

Wordle, a web game where users have to guess a random five-letter word every day, was bought by the New York Times two years ago. It's not surprising, but there are many Wordle application clones developed by people in various other languages.

This doesn't seem to sit well with the New York Times, and the media conglomerate seems to have started threatening lawsuits against other companies that have developed clones of their web games.

It is not known why the New York Times has started suing small developers over the development of clones of the app, especially when most of them appear to be in languages other than English. In fact, this is seen to have an impact on other platforms as well.

It is expected that many small developers will close their game offerings because they do not have enough financial resources to challenge the suit from the New York Times.

The digital novel app Cereka previously had a built-in Certeka game, but due to a notice issued by Apple, the app has been asked to remove the feature because it resembles Wordle owned by the New York Times.
