Oppo Is Serious With AI And Invests RM6.5 Billion To Advance OnePlus

Oppo is seen as very serious in integrating artificial intelligence in their products. AndesGPT is their public language model and in the future AndesAI may also be introduced. The Oppo AI Center has also been established as a center for Oppo to explore and test the AI capabilities that will be provided to users.

Recently the chief product officer of Oppo and the founder of OnePlus Liu Zuohu, told that Oppo and OnePlus are confident in the AI technology that will change the smartphone industry. It's not just a marketing gimmick. Then since 2022 when the dual-brand strategy between Oppo and OnePlus started, the OnePlus market has increased in 2024 up to 40% year-on-year.

Because of that, Oppo will invest as much as RMB 10 billion (~RM 6,522,254,000) to OnePlus. They aim that in three years the technology will continue to grow, the product offering will be larger and the service will also be better. According to Liu Zuohu, AI and smartphones are only compatible if;

Has a high penetration rate.

Great computing power.

Interactive.

Rich in variety of scenarios to match something.

Zuohu also stated that it used to be applications that helped make smartphones successful and now it's AI. What do you think, is this AI really useful or just an excuse for device manufacturers to raise the selling price? What about OnePlus which has now been a sub-brand of Oppo for two years?
