Qalbox is a fully Islamic themed video streaming platform under Muslim Pro. Their platform is growing fast enough that it's available on Android, iOS, Apple TV, Samsung TV (2019 and up) and even Android TV. Recently, Qalbox started offering its own AI service, Aideen, which is a chatbot about Islam, and in conjunction with the month of Ramadan, a TV series developed with AI will also be broadcast.
This morning I had the opportunity to interview the head of Qalbox, Junaidah Binti Said Khan. I used this opportunity to ask questions related to using AI in the development of Islamic-themed content including ethics, questioning the validity of AI-generated religious and historical facts and graphics, what's next for Aideen and also why Muslim Pro and Qalbox are now two different subscriptions.
Puan Junaidah shared that using generative artificial intelligence technology in content development is easier for humans. It does not replace humans because Qalbox still needs human expertise and touch to produce the best content. For example, generating something with AI requires an individual who is an expert in prom, then the generated results need to be verified with history experts, religious experts, scholars and many other relevant parties to ensure that no wrong information is spread.
For the TV series Muhammad the Mercy for the Multiverse, Qalbox collaborated with Quran Scape from the United States. Quran Scape specializes in producing Islamic-themed digital content, especially Al-Quran topics. The AI software used is OpenAI, Midjourney, Runaway and ElevenLabs.
The use of AI will also be further developed such as making Aideen more interactive and possibly offering games to users. The ready-to-use AI will also be used to add more TV series, movies and maybe one day animated content to attract more children and young people.
Qalbox is also confident that AI content is a new format content that can be educational material for those who want to deepen their knowledge or who want to learn more about this beautiful Islamic religion. Puan Junaidah also shared that the reason Muslim Pro and Qalbox subscriptions are separated is at the request of many users who only want Qalbox without the Muslim Pro subscription. He also shared that Qalbox is only two years old so there will be many changes to the plan and also the content offering.
If you are interested in getting Qalbox, the subscription price is RM29.90 per year. If you only want to get Muslim Pro, it costs RM22.90 per year and specifically for the month of Ramadan RM24.90 per year (RM2.07 per month) you can get both at once.
