Radia Windrunner Will Be The Longest Airplane In The World

The Boeing 747-8 is currently the longest airplane in the world with a length of 76.25 meters. The widest aircraft is the Scaled Composites Model 351 Stratolaunch with a wingspan of 117 meters. But the world's longest aircraft record is about to be broken by the Radia Windrunner.

This cargo plane aims for a body length of 108 meters, a width of 7.3 meters and a wingspan of 80 meters. Unlike Stratolaunch, Windrunner targets the use in the construction industry of windmill electrical generators. The current issue is that the blades of the windmill are too long, so they cannot be sent by plane or truck.

The Windrunner is designed to land on a partially completed runway area built within the wind farm construction area. Although it is a large aircraft, it is expected to be able to land on a runway of 1800 meters which can be categorized as short.

In addition to having a long cargo space, Windrunner also has the highest capacity cargo space of around 8,200 cubic meters. The Windrunner prototype design process has begun but there is no date when the first flight will take place.
