Spotify Launches Miniplayer For Desktop Users

Finally, after users have been asking for a long time, Spotify has now added a feature called Miniplayer to the desktop version, providing faster playback access.

It is known through a Spotify community post that this feature has been requested since 2019 and has received more than 3,000 upvotes, aka approval.

The miniplayer will appear with a floating window display, users can change its size so it can be easier to control the audio, including changing tracks, selecting playlists, and changing the volume.

Spotify revealed that this feature has started to be rolled out to premium users as reported by Engadget, Sunday (24/3/2024).

Once available in the app, users can launch Spotify Desktop Miniplayer by clicking the box on the bottom right side of the app, to the right of the standard playback controls. After clicking on it, a floating window will appear next to the complete application.

The resizable miniplayer can function in a square aspect ratio, ideal for video as the thinner bar, the feature is less intrusive and offers play/pause and skip track controls alongside current track info and album art.

Apple Music has had MiniPlayer equivalents for macOS and Windows for a long time. Spotify explains that Miniplayer will roll out to Premium subscribers first, suggesting that eventually the feature may also reach users on the free plan. If you are a Premium subscriber, immediately look for the small button at the bottom right of the desktop application.
