Starship's Third Attempt Into Space Finally Succeeds

SpaceX's third attempt to launch the Starship spacecraft into space was successful last night. Like the two previous attempts, Starship launched from Boca Chica Texas. The Starship was successfully separated from the Super Heavy rocket that was deployed as it arrived at the targeted orbit.

In two previous attempts the Starship exploded and lost contact with the SpaceX control center so it had to be detonated. Yesterday's success gave hope for the Starship to be used for the Artemis Mission to the moon around 2026.

Although yesterday's Integrated Flight Test-3 (IFT-3) mission was considered a success, it was not 100% according to Space X's plans. The Super Heavy was successfully directed back to Earth after the separation process but the Raptor rocket engine used failed to restart causing it to crash into the surface of the Gulf of Mexico.

Starship managed to make a reverse movement and was directed back to earth. But like IFT-2, it lost contact with the control center on its way to crash into the Indian Ocean. Officially this Starship is considered to have been destroyed during the process of re-entering the Earth's atmosphere.

In addition to being used for the Artemis Mission, Starship is a reusable spacecraft for the Dear Moon Mission and further to the surface of Mars by SpaceX. It also caught the attention of the Pentagon who was interested in using it as a high-speed cargo carrier for military missions.
