The issue of data loss through hacking attacks is seen to be increasing not only in the enterprise and government sectors but also affecting small and medium-sized companies as well. These companies are beginning to recognize the need to ensure their data is secure.
Because of this, Synology has also introduced several new solutions that ensure that the customers' data of their NAS (Network-Attached Storage) devices with new software solutions that not only ensure their data is safe, but facilitate the management of the data.
First is the Secure SignIn feature, where it is a secure login feature that does not use a fixed password to log into the IT administrator account. It uses an OTP verification code and a hardware security key that will constantly change and requires a second device to access it.
Active Backup for Business provides an all-in-one data protection solution, which introduces a backup function for all company data, regardless of whether it is contained in physical servers, virtual machines or personal computers. Not only is it capable of backing up data well, it also comes with a deduplication feature where the Synology NAS will scan the backed up data, and only keep a copy of the data if a copy of the same file is found.
This will to some extent allow companies to save backup storage space, allowing them to store more other data.
Synology has also demonstrated Snapshot Replication, which is a feature that allows Synology's NAS to restore data efficiently if the company's NAS or servers are hacked and their data is locked by a ransomware attack.
Administrators can set configurations such as backup periods to ensure that their data backups have the most complete information, should the time come when these companies need to restore their server data.
Synology further says that this software solution is offered on all their products, as long as their NAS hardware is still under warranty and still receiving software updates.
Jason Sin, Country Manager of Synology Malaysia said that Synology NAS products are the choice of 70 percent of small and medium companies in Malaysia because they are easy to find and easy to use, in addition to their powerful security features.
