TikTok is quite a popular social media platform. But last year, Instagram overtook TikTok as the most downloaded app. This is probably because Instagram has also gained popularity after they also focused on Reels vertical video content. Most recently, TikTok is seen to be challenging Instagram with TikTok Photos.
If IG can imitate TikTok to focus on videos, now it's TikTok's turn to imitate IG to focus on sharing pictures. TikTok Photos is believed to be a competitor to Instagram because the application development code contains terms such as "Open TikTok Photos", "Share this post to TikTok Photos" and "Reach other like-minded people who enjoy photo posts".
At the moment it is still not sure how serious Bytedance is in wanting to be a competitor to TikTok or just an experiment like TikTok Now which is trying to challenge BeReal. With Instagram starting to focus on a balance of photos and videos, TikTok Photos has the potential to attract users the way Threads attracted X (formerly Twitter) users. what do you say
