The true identity of Bitcoin creator Satashi Nakamoto will remain a mystery after a United Kingdom court said Craig Wright is not him. In 2016, Wright claimed he was Satashi Nakamoto and this was opposed by the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA) who dragged him to court.
COPA was forced to take this step because Wright recently filed a patent for the Bitcoin 0.1 code as well as a white paper on this cryptocurrency. Because Satoshi Nakamoto was also the creator of the first blockchain, Wright has also sued Binance and Block for allegedly using the blockchain database without his permission.
After a five-week trial, the court found Wright failed to prove he was Satoshi Nakamoto. Wright claimed he was the creator of Bitcoin after a report published by Wired. At that time he said that the name Satoshi was taken from the name of the character Ash Ketchum in Japanese while Nakamoto was the name of the Japanese philosopher Tominaga Nakamoto.
During the trial Wright said that if he was not Satoshi, there would have been individuals who would have denied it. With this court decision, COPA hopes that Bitcoin will be able to continue as open source in the future. The true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto still remains a mystery.
