In a rather surprising decision, Microsoft announced that Android application support on the Windows 11 operating system will be stopped from March 5, 2025. This will simultaneously stop Android application support provided since 2022.
The Windows Subsystem for Android system will be discontinued which makes new apps unable to be downloaded after March 5, 2025. Installed apps will continue to be usable. At the same time starting March 6, 2024, Android applications will no longer be displayed when searching through the App Store.
As for developers, they cannot publish new Android applications to Windows after March 5, 2024. Existing applications can still be updated by developers who want to continue to provide support to users.
