Google Gemini is an AI chatbot by Google with its own multi-language model. Those who subscribe to the Google One AI Premium plan will be able to access Gemini Ultra, a free user limited to Gemini Pro and Gemini Nano built into select Pixel and Samsung devices. Recently, Gemini has been brought to Google Message as well.
Previously, Gemini on Google Message was Gemini Nano to process Smart Reply via Gboard. Now the Gemini chatbot itself is built allowing users to chat with Gemini to help create lists, plan trips back home and get other facts easily and quickly. This feature is limited to Google Messages beta users only for now.
Not only that, this feature can only be used on selected devices which are Google Pixel 6 and above, Pixel Fold, Samsung Galaxy S22 and above and any Samsung Galaxy Z Flip or Z Fold. It is also only offered to 165 countries including Malaysia but still does not support the Malay language. Then Google also tells that the Google Workspace account or the one in Google Family Link cannot use it. This feature also requires users to activate RCS.
Gemini on Messages works just like the chatbot on the Gemini website, except it can't generate images. It's more like Chat Assist on Galaxy AI to help draft messages with unique language styles, generate specific dinner recommendations or ask Gemini for their opinion. Each chat will be saved for 72 hours or the user can delete it himself.
If you want to try Gemini on Google Messages, make sure you are using an eligible device and have installed the beta version of the Google Messages app that can be registered on the Play Store or installed via sideload.
