Beware Of New Scam Targeting Maxis Users – Sending Messages Saying Points Will Expiry

Lately, there have been several messages targeting a number of Maxis telecommunication service users, fraudulently saying that your accumulated reward points for Maxis will expire and you need to open a special link in order to maintain the reward points.

For information, the link sent is not from Maxis, but is a malicious link, which may lead to data or financial theft. In fact, the web link also tries to imitate some Maxis branding in an attempt to deceive customers.

Maxis itself advises users not to open any links sent through messaging services.

Previously, the government had prevented the sending of SMS containing links in order to reduce the rate of fraud that occurs in today's digital age. However, some irresponsible parties are now using the RCS method in sending messages with links to users.

As always, always exercise caution, and do not open any links sent by known parties in an effort to avoid becoming a victim of digital scams.
