Google Messages Will Be Able To Send Messages To Anyone With Satellite Communications

Google Messages is now the default messaging app for SMS, RCS and MMS on most Android devices. The application is packed with interesting features and functions including support for chatting with Gemini directly without using a web browser or other applications. Most recently, Google was seen testing the ability of satellite communication on Messages.

Unlike other devices such as Apple or Huawei which are dedicated for emergency purposes only, Google Messages suggests that their satellite communication can send messages to anyone. The 9to5Google report states that users should be outside under a clear sky and messages should only contain text without any media files such as videos or pictures.

Google has also informed users that the use of satellite communication takes a long time to send and receive messages. This feature is seen to be tested on Google Messages beta version 20240329_01_RC00 and it is not certain when it will be in the hands of all users.
