Google is constantly trying to make the Play Store a safe app store and free from scam apps. But there are clever fraudsters who managed to trick Google into having 87 fake apps that have stolen money from over 100,000 users.
These scammers are two app developers, one from China and the other from Hong Kong. Google is suing them because it wants to protect the integrity of the Play Store. These two developers were once stopped by Google but later disguised themselves and used other identities to prevent users of their crypto apps from withdrawing from investment profits.
These fraudsters have cheated from hundreds to tens of thousands of ringgit. They have also caused Google to spend more than RM350,000 for the investigation. Sources shared that Google was more angry that the Play Store's reputation was being damaged than it was running out of money to investigate.
