Huawei is now forming a new software brand under them that will focus on offering self-driving technology, named as Qiankun. This step also shows Huawei's focus in becoming one of the main players in the automotive industry, especially electric cars.
Qiankun is expected to offer a number of systems, including self-driving systems, inforia systems, and so on. Huawei aims to generate around 500,000 vehicles with their system by the end of 2024, through around 10 new vehicle models.
In addition to system development, Huawei has also invested in vehicle developer and manufacturer Aito - which is also expected to use this new system later.
For now, Huawei is expected to work with car manufacturers in China only for this new software. It is not yet known when it will be expanded to markets outside of China.
