Microsoft Now Offers MS-DOS 4.0 In Open Source Form

Microsoft, along with IBM, today took steps to offer the source code for MS-DOS 4.0, allowing developers to see the code on the operating system that was introduced some 37 years ago.

MS-DOS 4.0 is an operating system based on MS-DOS 2.0, and comes with several improvements, including multi-tasking code by IBM. MS-DOS 4.0 was previously introduced in 1986, and was powered by code developed nearly 45 years ago.

Microsoft says users can run this source code on IBM PC XT computers, in addition to using the PCem and 86box emulators. For those of you who are interested, you can get this source code through the official Github site today.
