Microsoft Tests Showing Ads On Start Menu In Windows 11

Microsoft has now announced that they have started testing the display of advertisements in the form of applications that are proposed to be installed, on the Start menu section of the Windows 11 operating system. This advertising is tested on the latest development version of Windows Insiders, and this test is limited to the United States only for the time being.

Microsoft says this support is limited to users of personal devices only, and commercial device use managed by organizations is not affected by this test.

At the same time, Microsoft states that users can turn off this advertising display feature through the settings page in Windows 11.

For now, the display of these ads is limited to the Windows Insider version only, and it is not yet known whether this test will be extended to the stable version or vice versa.
