The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), is now introducing the Sandbox Artificial Intelligence (AI) Pilot Program, in an effort to encourage the establishment of up to 900 AI-focused startup companies in Malaysia.

This figure is expected to be reached by the year 2026 later, and at the same time foster the development of more than 13,000 talents in the field of artificial intelligence. Indirectly, it is also expected to have potential in stimulating up to 10% economic growth as well as creating new job opportunities.

This step is also in line with the country's previous goal, in targeting up to 100 companies that generate income of RM1 billion by 2030.

The introduced program also received support from NVIDIA which will contribute to AI training and capacity building in Malaysia.
