Two weeks ago we reported that NASA had selected three companies to build "cars" for use on the lunar surface during the Artemis Mission. Last week, NASA signed an agreement with the Japan Space Agency (JAXA) to use Toyota's "van" on the moon's surface.
This Toyota-designed lunar surface van has a cabin that will allow astronauts to relax inside. With this, traveling on the surface of the moon can be done longer and more comfortably. Through a concept shared by JAXA and Toyota five years ago, this van can travel up to 10,000 KM with the ability to recharge using solar panels stored on its body.
If all goes well, this van will be deployed on the lunar surface in 2031 during the Artemis VII Mission. NASA will send to the surface of the moon with an astronaut from Japan. This will also make Japan another country that successfully sent humans to the surface of the moon.
India, China and Russia also have similar hopes as they see the moon as the first human colony before travel to other planets is possible.
