OpenAI today announced their first office in the Asia region, located in Tokyo, Japan. In parallel with the opening of this office, OpenAI also announced the introduction of a special GPT-4 optimized for the Japanese language.
OpenAI stated that they chose Japan due to its leadership in the technology arena, as well as the community that uses innovation.
The specific GPT-4 model introduced offers better performance in translating text, or summarizing Japanese-language text – compared to other models. It is also said to operate 3 times faster than the previous model.
Some Japanese companies have also started using ChatGPT to improve operational performance, including Toyota and Daikin.
