Two years ago it was rumored that Samsung would start offering satellite communication system support for emergency purposes on the Galaxy S series. But until now it has not been provided even though Apple, Huawei, Honor and Oppo have already offered it. Today Samsung launched the Exynos 5400 modem which is their first modem capable of two-way satellite communication.
The Exynos 5400 is the modem used on the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ with the Exynos chip. In addition to performing two-way satellite communication, the Exynos 5400 also supports sub-6Ghz and mmWave 5G networks. 5G connection through this modem provides download speeds of up to 14.79 Gbps.
It is produced using Samsung's 4nm EUV technology which can also reduce battery consumption. The first devices expected to use the Exynos 5400 with two-way satellite communication are believed to be the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold expected to launch next September
