Long distance journeys using electric vehicles to the East Coast have so far been a challenge if drivers don't plan well, or often drive at speeds that drain the battery at a high rate. This week shows Shell Recharge EV chargers in the Rehat & Rawat Perasing area, Terengganu are ready for use.
There are two chargers operating in this rest area, with DC charging power that can be provided up to 180kW, subject to the capacity of the EV and also the number of EVs charging. If there are two EVs charging, the charging capacity is likely to only reach 90kW for each.
In terms of price, just like other Shell Recharge chargers, it requires users to launch the Parkeasy app. For each booking confirmation, a charge of 5 credits (equivalent to RM 5) will be applied, and each kWh will be charged as much as 2.20 credits (equivalent to RM 2.20). If charging has finished beyond the first 15 minutes, an 'idle' fee will be charged as much as 8 credits (equivalent to RM 8) for every 15 minutes.
With the availability of this Isolated Shell Recharge EV charger, it can indirectly reduce dependency and provide more options to EV users who want to head to the East Coast, and not just limited to the chargers in Gambang or Paka. Even users can theoretically charge fully in Perasing, and continue all the way to Kota Bharu without needing any charging.
