SKMM Warns Do Not Spread Provocative Content

MCMC today issued a warning to the public not to spread provocative content online. The warning was given after the viral issue of the discovery of a pattern resembling the word Allah on the surface of the soles of shoes sold in Malaysia.

The SKMM also urges anyone who has any information on social media involving shoe logos that are claimed to resemble the word Allah to report it to the authorities, including the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM).

They will not hesitate to take action under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 if any party tries to take advantage of the issue and send or leave comments that go beyond the limits that can cause tension between races.

All parties also need to give space to the Islamic Development Department of Malaysia (JAKIM) and the authorities to investigate this allegation.
