Sony is preparing for a special event scheduled to take place in Tokyo, Japan on May 17, 2024. This event is named Xperia Special Event 2024 and was announced on Sony's official website since yesterday.
No further details are available at this time. However, the use of the Xperia tagline is the only clue that can link it to the launch of a new product, the Xperia 1 VI. In fact, there is also an experience session with the products listed through the event schedule which can also strengthen the speculation. Additionally, the introduction of the previous generation of Xperia was also introduced during roughly the same timeline.
All of these, however, are just initial expectations that feel better to wait for further updates from Sony itself. For the record the Xperia 1 V was announced in May last year with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip and a 52MP Exmor T Mobile camera. The device is also available for sale in Malaysia at a price of RM 6,399 (12/256GB).
