In the last Budget 2024, the government has allocated funds for the establishment of an artificial intelligence faculty. In parallel, it is now shared that the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) will be inaugurated on 3 May 2024.
The establishment of this faculty is also in line with the drastic development of technology, especially artificial intelligence, over the past year or two. This Faculty of Artificial Intelligence is also expected to enable more local talent to be produced in line with current industry demand.
At the same time, it was also shared that the ministry will evaluate a faculty according to the marketability of graduates. If the marketability rate falls below 30%, then the faculty may have to be discontinued or modified according to the needs of the industry.
