If you're a user of Threads, Meta's Twitter/X competitor, you'll know that to use it, you can only log into the app using your Instagram account.
Recently, as a result of this matter, the Turkish government through the Turkish Competition Authority (TCA) has given a preliminary injunction on Meta to open registration and log into the platform, or block access to the application in the country.
The TCA said that forcing users to log into Threads without other options is a way for Meta to increase the company's market power in that country, and the European region as a whole, whether the public is aware of it or not.
Meta will reportedly appeal for the injunction to be dropped, but for now it appears it will follow the Turkish government's order to shut down their latest social media service in the country starting April 29.
Meta also does not have any plans to add a way to register and log into Threads at this time.
