Disney+ Hotstar has previously announced an increase in subscription prices and changes to their streaming plan offerings in Malaysia. The price increase rate is, and will start at RM24.90 per month for the Basic plan, and RM39.90 per month for the Premium plan. This is a significant difference compared to the current RM54.90 for 3 months.
Disney+ Hotstar will increase this subscription price effective April 24, 2024.
In parallel, Unifi and Astro that offer Disney+ Hotstar subscription bundles also announced some changes to their offerings. Interestingly, according to the closest sources, Unifi is expected to make changes to the original announcement, and is expected to announce it officially on April 8, 2024.
Through the changes that will be offered, all Disney+ Hotstar customers through the Unifi subscription package or "a la carte" will be upgraded to the Premium plan at no additional cost, effective April 24, 2024.
This is an upgrade from the Basic plan, allowing users to create up to 7 different profiles, and stream content simultaneously on 3 screens at a time. Users will also be able to enjoy streaming at 4K resolution through this Premium plan.
With this move, all existing Unifi TV Pack subscribers who come with the Disney+ Hotstar package will not see any price increase. While the additional subscription is at the rate of RM16 per month for Disney+ Hotstar, or the a la carte subscription at the price of RM54.90 for three months via Unifi bill. This at the same time makes the Disney+ Hotstar subscription through Unifi cheaper and worthwhile compared to the subscription through the official Disney+ Hotstar website.
Unifi is expected to share more about this matter starting April 8, 2024 to all their customers.
