Yahoo Takes Over Artifact Applications – Will Integrate Technology Behind It Across Yahoo's Products

Yahoo today announced that it has acquired the artificial intelligence-based news reading application, Artifact. For information, this application was founded by the founder of Instagram, and was previously scheduled to be discontinued.

Yahoo will no longer offer the Artifact app separately. Instead, various technologies powered by artificial intelligence in personalizing news for each user will be used and integrated on various Yahoo products – including the Yahoo News application.

Yahoo says the Yahoo News application is already popular in the United States, and this integration is expected to offer more optimized news quality and tailored to each user's taste.

Yahoo did not say how much the acquisition is worth for this Artifact. Yahoo said the two founders of the Artiface app will help Yahoo in an advisory capacity for the transition period of the technology transfer.
