Google Gemini is Google's generative AI chatbot that uses its own spoken language model. Gemini Nano is built on Samsung and Pixel devices, Gemini Pro for all users and Gemini Ultra for paid users. At the time of Gemini's launch, the app was limited to Android devices and iPhone users were limited to the web version until recently.
I noticed on Sunday, March 31, 2024 the Google app on the iPhone started showing a switch between Google and Gemini. press Google it becomes the usual Google app and when Gemini is pressed it looks like the Gemini interface on Android. All of Gemini's features appear to be usable including voice control, but like Google Assistant on the iPhone, Gemini cannot be invoked. It is also limited to English only.
Gemini on iPhone is free to use except for Gemini Advanced access which requires a Google One AI Premium subscription. The inclusion of Gemini on this iPhone is also the first step of Apple and Google's collaboration for the upcoming iOS 18 which is expected to have AI integration.
