Last month, Acer presented the Acer Predator Helios Neo 14 gaming laptop, which is a 14-inch model to the powerful Acer Predator Helios Neo gaming laptop series, which also comes with a 16-inch model.
Today, Acer Malaysia has announced sales for the laptop, where for the Malaysian market, it comes with only one model, and is sold at a price of RM7799. We also got a chance to see the laptop for ourselves, and this is our first look at it.
Specifications
Starting with the specifications of this laptop, it comes with a 14.5-inch screen display with a resolution of 3072×1920, a refresh rate of 165Hz and is capable of processing 100 percent of the SRGB color gamut and supports NVIDIA G-SYNC display technology for perfect graphics processing while gaming or watching movies with action scenes and also HDR content.
From the internal components, the Predator Helios Neo 14 is the first laptop from the Predator series to use the 14th generation Meteor Lake Intel Core Ultra processing chip. For the Malaysian market model, the only CPU used is an Intel Core Ultra 9 185H along with 32GB of LPDDR5X memory and also a 1TB PCIe Gen4 SSD storage.
In terms of graphics card, the Predator Helios Neo 14 comes with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 which is powerful enough to run any modern games you want to play at high resolution and refresh rate without any problems.
Design
Acer Predator Helios Neo 14 comes with an all-black and minimalist design, not so different from their modern laptop designs, but there are some differences that show its uniqueness.
The frame behind the display and the keyboard as usual are made of alloy metal, but what's more interesting is that the bottom frame of this laptop is made of PCR (Post Consumer Recyclable) plastic. Acer Malaysia confirmed this to us, and said that the total use of PCR on this laptop is less than 30 percent, and is the reason why it is not marketed as a PCR laptop.
That being said, the Predator Helios Neo 14 laptop is one of the first Predator laptops to use this recycled material, and it wouldn't be surprising if the brand would show more offerings that use this recycled material.
In terms of plug options, this laptop comes with several interesting plug options, including a Thunderbolt 4 plug, a USB Type-C plug that can also be used as a Mini DisplayPort 1.4 connection, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A plugs, one HDMI 2.1 plug , one charging plug and one MicroSD card reader.
Not only that, with the powerful specifications on this laptop, we can also show that the Predator Helios Neo 14 keyboard also comes with Microsoft Copilot dedicated keys that facilitate access to Microsoft's AI assistant.
Closing
My opinion on the performance of this laptop will have to wait until I have tried it myself. But I'm very grateful to Acer for finally announcing a challenger to ASUS that comes with their own 14-inch gaming laptop offering via the ROG Zephyrus G14.
For me, the design of this 14-inch laptop is the best for use in the office or at home, but also for taking anywhere. I myself use an Acer Swift X 14 laptop which has almost the same design, but with a different configuration (Intel Core i7 13th generation and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050) and if I have the opportunity to upgrade my laptop to this Predator Helios Neo 14 , I will not hesitate to do so.
