Helldivers 2 is a game from the PlayStation studio that has been the most popular among PC users since last February. It is seen as the best way to satisfy console and PC owners while at the same time not requiring high AAA costs.
Last week Sony issued a statement that Helldivers 2 players on Steam need to have a PlayStation Network (PSN) account to continue enjoying the game. Within a few days thousands of negative comments were left by players as a sign of protest.
After receiving criticism from players, PlayStation released a statement that it will not continue with the intention to require Steam players to have a PSN account. Actions are taken after taking into account all feedback from players on PC. They thank the Helldivers II players who supported their game.
This unpopular move by Sony not only harasses PC players but will also result in their account being banned for multiplayer sessions even if the game has already been purchased. Add to the tragedy that PSN is not supported in all countries such as Afghanistan for example which leaves residents of those countries with no option to register an account.
When the Helldivers article was written, only 53% of players gave negative reviews on the game's Steam page. This is a sharp drop of around 70% positive before Sony announced the PSN account requirement.
