The Apple iPad Pro was launched a few days ago and it is the first device with the Apple M4 chip and is also the thinnest product they have ever produced. To show the capabilities of the iPad Pro as well as its "thinness" an advertisement has been produced showing various musical instruments, art, video games and more squeezed by a giant machine.
Today Apple apologized for producing the ad above because it was seen as being insensitive to the artist. Therefore this ad will not be used to promote the iPad Pro on the TV screen. Ad Crush! has been viewed over a million times on YouTube. Negative comments started appearing on social media like X/Twitter a few minutes after the ad was shown.
Among the comments we could see was a video showing piano instruments, trumpets and guitars being destroyed that broke the hearts of musicians. Meanwhile, users from Japan said that according to local culture, destroying goods as in the advertisement is considered an uncivilized act.
In Malaysia, we don't see artists complaining. Maybe because art activists have given up considering that in our country art has long been devalued. Until now there is no specific ministry for the arts while it once existed.
