Apple Expected to Add AI Features to Safari Through iOS 18 – Including To Summarize Web Content

Apple is said to be integrating a number of artificial intelligence-based features in the upcoming iOS 18 update. One of the built-in applications that will also be affected by this change is Apple's built-in web browser, Safari.

Through AppleInsider, it was shared that the artificial intelligence feature on Safari will facilitate some browsing processes. In addition, users will also be offered with an interface update for the web browser, after a long time Safari has not received a major drastic change.

One of the features based on artificial intelligence that will be introduced is the ability to formulate web content. With this step, the AI model on Safari can identify various sentences and words on a website, and then provide a brief description to the user. Apple is expected to use the processing capabilities of the device for this purpose – unlike some other service providers that offer more or less the same features.

In addition, the new Safari is also expected to add a "Web Eraser" feature, which makes it easier for users to delete content directly from a website - including advertising, images and so on. And Safari will remember the user's settings, and will implement the same when browsing in the future.

Apple is also said to be developing a visual-based search feature on Safari, and will introduce it around 2025.

With these various features, Safari is expected to be one of the main focuses on the introduction of iOS 18 powered by artificial intelligence. In fact, with these steps as well, Apple may also position Safari as one of the competitors to other search engines in the market.

Apple will hold the WWDC event in June 2024, where they are expected to touch more on their artificial intelligence offerings.
