Apple has today started offering the iOS 17.5.1 update to iPhone users, simultaneously overcoming a bug that made various deleted photos reappear on the user's device.
Previously, after the iOS 17.5 update, a number of users said that various deleted photos reappeared on their iPhones – and in some cases, they involved photos that had been deleted for years. Apple has not released any comment regarding it, and simply offered the iOS 17.5.1 update and stated in the update that it fixed the bug problem.
Apple says the update fixes a database corruption that made photos appear in the Photos app, even after they've been deleted.
Some privacy-conscious users also question this. According to the settings in the application, the picture will be kept for 30 days after deletion, before it is completely deleted from the library. However, some pictures that have been deleted for years have also reappeared, making various users question this matter.
For now, Apple, which often emphasizes privacy through their product offerings, still hasn't released a further explanation regarding the problem of this bug, and how long-deleted photos can reappear in the user's photo library.
