Intel, Samsung, AMD, NVIDIA and Google all have their own artificial intelligence (AI) chips. By designing in-house, more control as needed is possible and for other companies less dependence on NVIDIA. According to a Wall Street Journal report, Apple has also begun efforts to develop its own AI chip.
This standalone AI chip will be used in Apple's data centers where it runs various AI software that will be introduced at the WWDC 2024 event next month. At Apple, the project developed its own chips using the code name ACDC, which stands for Apple Chips in Data Center.
It's no secret that iOS 18 will have various AI features of its own that will give competition to features like Galaxy AI that have been used on Samsung devices this year. With AI PCs as well as other companies' AI smartphones already launched, Apple can't wait to introduce AI features to their products next year.
Based on what we have used ourselves, AI features are no longer gimmicks and for a large number of users they are necessary features to facilitate daily work.
